Cathy Kirk
Cathy is a member of Emyvale C.C.É., Co. Monaghan and plays bodhrán, whistle
and piano.
She graduated from Mater Dei in Dublin in 2014 with a B. Ed in Music & RE and
received the Bolan Award in her final year. She completed a Master’s in Traditional
Irish Music Performance at the University of Limerick in 2015.
She has won many All-Ireland titles as a member of teams representing the
McQuaid School of Irish Dancing, Co. Monaghan. She has travelled as a dancer with
the touring troupe Clasac to numerous international festivals.
Cathy is a member of the Comhaltas National Folk Orchestra. She also toured as
part of the Comhaltas concert tour of Ireland and Britain in 2018/2019. She is also a
member of the Ulster Traditional Folk Orchestra Ómós na nUltach and the Misneach
Orchestra.
She has taught bodhrán and piano at Scoil Éigse for many years.
Fionnuala Donlon
Fionnuala Donlon, from Dundalk, Co. Louth, began playing the harp at the age of
nine. She comes from a strong musical background; her father, Pádraig Donlon, is a
noted uilleann piper.
Fionnuala has won numerous All-Ireland medals, including the Senior Harp title at
Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann in 2019. Fionnuala was awarded the Bonn Óir Seán Ó
Riada for harp in 2021, which was presented to her by President Michael D Higgins
in Áras an Uachtaráin.
Her music has brought her to international stages in countries such as Thailand,
France, and Belgium, where she has represented Ireland. She has also toured
throughout Ireland and Britain as part of the Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann concert
tour.
In addition to performing, Fionnuala is a dedicated music teacher, sharing her skills
and passion for traditional Irish music with the next generation.
